Last year, 22 of the 35 Carabao Cup first round matches saw both teams score, and now I am hoping for more carnage this Tuesday.
It’s still very early in the season, and it is always tough to predict just how many changes that the several directors will create for this round of fittings, but I’ve identified five matches that have great BTTS possible.
I am starting off with the biggie: AFC Wimbledon v MK Dons.
Wally Downes has certainly made a name for himself Kingsmeadow, even though it’s away from home in which he is actually excelled — on home soil, his Wimbledon unwanted are very susceptible, and with 65% of their Kingsmeadow encounters seeing both groups score last season, I am confident to get a repeat on Tuesday.
Both of Wimbledon’s League One games this effort have seen both teams score, whereas newly-promoted MK Dons (who needed a 70% BTTS-rate on the road last year ) will fancy their chances of at least finding the web against the Wombles.
This will be a highly-charged atmosphere, and goals shouldn’t be in short supply. ??
After playing a 2-2 draw as recently as Saturday, Mansfield and Morecambe meet again in Field Mill.
Although Mansfield needs to be far too powerful for Morecambe, the Stags have looked a shadow of their former selves defensively this year, conceding twice in the first half at the opening two matches.
It looks like fresh Stags boss John Dempster has not quite got his feet under the table after David Flitcroft’s sacking in the conclusion of last year, and I’m confident the Shrimps will once more be able to harness this and find the net on Tuesday (while also conceding in all probability ).
The four matches QPR and Bristol City have performed together this year have seen both teams score, and I hope nothing different at Loftus Road.
I’ve been impressed by QPR this year, plus they have some really good young players who will cope with the Robins some damage — chief Eberechi Eze and Ilias Chair.
Bristol City are far better side than QPR on newspaper, and have the caliber to locate the net on Tuesday; with four goals from their past two visits to Loftus Road, I’m certain they will.
Grimsby have amazed me so much this year; the League Two outfit have four points from their two games against Morecambe and Bradford, and that I think they’ll give League One Doncaster a excellent game in Blundell Park.
Darren Moore’s Donny have drawn their opening two league matches 1-1, and I just cannot see them hitting the heights of last season, where they ended in the play-offs beneath Grant McCann.
This is supposed to be a hard-fought game; well over half of Doncaster’s away games watched both teams score last season, and I believe that is well worth financing on Tuesday.
My last BTTS choice is Huddersfield v Lincoln, in a really solid price.
The Terriers have not looked up to substantially defensively this year, and I will see them struggling against a Lincoln side that are not just mortal from set-pieces, but appreciate a Cupset.
Both of Huddersfield’s games this year have seen both teams rating, although the Imps have won their opening two 2-0 — the most recent away at Rotherham at which –despite being pummelled for most of the game–they scored via two large balls into the box.
Lincoln’s physicality can cause Huddersfield difficulties in the John Smith’s, also evens is a good price to rear either side with joy before goal.
