Last year, 22 of the 35 Carabao Cup first round matches saw both teams score, and I’m hoping for more carnage this Tuesday.
It is still very early in the summer, and it is always difficult to predict how many changes the numerous managers will make for this particular round of fixtures, but I have identified five games which have great BTTS possible.
I’m starting off with the biggie: AFC Wimbledon v MK Dons.
Wally Downes has made a name for himself in Kingsmeadow, although it’s away from home where he is actually excelled — on home land, his Wimbledon side are very susceptible, as well as 65 percent of the Kingsmeadow experiences seeing both teams score last year, I’m confident to get a repeat on Tuesday.
Both of Wimbledon’s League One matches this campaign have noticed both teams score, while newly-promoted MK Dons (who had a 70 percent BTTS-rate on the road last season) will fancy their odds of at least finding the web from the Wombles.
This’ll be a highly-charged setting, and aims shouldn’t be in short supply. ??
After playing out a 2-2 draw as recently as Saturday, Mansfield and Morecambe meet once again in Field Mill.
Although Mansfield must be too strong for Morecambe, the Stags have looked a shadow of their former selves defensively this year, conceding twice in the first half in the opening two games.
It looks like fresh Stags boss John Dempster hasn’t really got his feet under the table following David Flitcroft’s sacking in the end of last season, and I am confident the Shrimps will once again be able to exploit this and discover the net on Tuesday (while also conceding in all probability ).
The four games QPR and Bristol City have performed collectively this year have seen both teams rating, and I expect nothing whatsoever at Loftus Road.
I’ve been impressed by QPR this year, plus they have a few really good young players that will cope with the Robins some damage — chief Eberechi Eze and Ilias Chair.
Bristol City are a better side than QPR on newspaper, and possess the caliber to find the net on Tuesday; with four goals from their past two visits to Loftus Road, I am convinced they will.
Grimsby have amazed me so much this season; the League Two outfit have four points from their two matches from Morecambe and Bradford, and I believe they’ll give League One Doncaster a great match at Blundell Park.
Darren Moore’s Donny have drawn their opening two league games 1-1, and I simply cannot see them hitting the peaks of last season, in which they ended from the play-offs beneath Grant McCann.
This ought to be a hard-fought match; well more than half of Doncaster’s away games saw both teams score last season, and I think this is well worth backing on Tuesday.
My last BTTS pick is Huddersfield v Lincoln, in a really solid price.
The Terriers have not looked up to considerably defensively this season, and I will see them struggling against a Lincoln side that are not just mortal from set-pieces, but love a Cupset.
Both of Huddersfield’s matches this year have seen both teams rating, although the Imps have won their opening two 2-0 — the latest away at Rotherham at which –even though being pummelled for most of the game–they scored via two high balls into the box.
Lincoln’s physicality can cause Huddersfield problems in the John Smith’s, and also evens is a fantastic price to rear both sides having joy in front of goal.
