Rangers director Steven Gerrard has accused the Scotland training team of becoming”careless” with Ryan Jack, since he picked up a knee injury on international duty.
The midfielder was sent home from the group following his continuing knee problem and is still a doubt for his team’s game against Livingston on Saturday.
Gerrard said:”Unfortunately he had been requested to do an 11k session after an Old Firm [derby], that left his knee flare up.
“Therefore we have needed to handle him, he has needed to have a few procedures as.
“He did a light session with the physio [on Thursday] and now we’re hoping to put him into training tomorrow.
“I think that it’s just careless. Later playing 90 minutes, you should never do 11k two days. That’s the education I have had.
“It’s a shame since he’s missed the last five/six coaching sessions, thus we’ll have to build his fitness back up.”
Gerrard demonstrated his exercise trainer has been in contact.
“Ryan’s have a knee issue that he handles and he’s done for a very long time,” he further added.
“The SFA are aware of that, their fitness trainer is aware of that. I think everybody in Scotland watched the Old Business and saw Ryan play 90 minutes. And then 48 hours later, he did a session”
Even the Rangers boss also talked of his delight in the entrance of Ryan Kent to Ibrox, since the 22-year-old joined the team in a deal that could be worth up to #7.5m on Deadline Day.
“We’re very delighted. I don’t think it’s any secret we tried to get him , and we attempted.
“To get him a permanent deal and for him to locate a home – I’m delighted.
“I understand the fans and everyone at the club is delighted too. To get him , not only for a limited while, but for four years, it is fantastic for everybody.”
