The 2018 season proved to be effective for the Los Angeles Rams, and John Johnson III is already looking ahead to how the team could build on that achievement in 2019.
In an appearance on Access on Monday, Johnson touched some of the most interesting developments of his team including the inclusion of Guru talent to help the shield, most especially fellow safety Eric Weddle.
“He’s only a genius. I have not seen anyone like him,” stated the 23-year-old Johnson of the savvy veteran. “I have not been in the league long but I understand he’s a particular one and I’m excited to find out what we can do. Not just the way that it can make me but I’m eager to find out what he and I can do with this whole defense.”

After being released by the Ravens in March weddle, 34, signed. Throughout his profession, he has been the NFL interceptions pioneer in 2011 — 2011, 2013 and 2014 with the Chargers and 2016-18 with the Ravens — and has been named to six Pro Bowls.
As a starter in 2018, Johnson began in all 16 games and contributed 119 tackles and 11 pass deflections. His biggest highlight of the season came in the NFC Championship Game when he intercepted Drew Brees in overtime to help push the Rams to Super Bowl LIII and on past the Saints.
During his TA look, Johnson was also asked to reflect how the team has managed to refocus after falling to the New England Patriots 13-3 back in February. His response indicated a team that is dead set on getting back to the game in 2020.
“I wouldn’t say it is amnesia but I really do think we turned into the page. This is a brand new team. We dropped guys, we obtained free agents, rookies, undrafted free agents; this is a whole new team,” he said. “We must start fresh, we know exactly what it takes to get there, we know we have to do more to acquire it.
“I think that it’s just turning the page, beginning new but it’s definitely a bit more fuel to lead up to this year, for sure.”
