Michael Flynn staying at Newport County after talks with Lincoln
Michael Flynn has Chosen to stay as Newport County Manager after talks with Lincoln City.
Sky Sports News noted the Flynn spoke to Lincoln’s rule during the weekend and it’s understood he matched the standards set by their own chairman Clive Nates, who was over from South Africa to oversee the recruiting procedure.
League One team Lincoln recently dropped Nicky and Cowley brothers Danny into Huddersfield.
Newport gave Lincoln consent to hold discussions but the 38-year-old refused their offer.
A Newport statement read:”Following considerable media speculation, Newport County AFC could confirm the team received an approach in recent times from another EFL club for those services of director Michael Flynn.
“The Exiles’ board gave permission for Michael to speak to another club.
“Michael has informed the board that these talks are at a stop and he stays dedicated to, and entirely focused on, continuing his job as manager of Newport County AFC.”
It’s known Lincoln also made contact but he has reiterated his commitment to his team.
In an announcement on Wycombe’s site on Monday night, Ainsworth stated:”We have enjoyed a really strong start to the summer and it is always flattering to visit us staff, players and the team as a complete – talked about in large regard.
“However, it is important that the focus is about ourselves and what we do as a club to ensure things continue to move in the ideal direction.”
There’s one other unnamed supervisor on the shortlist of Lincoln.
