Last season, 22 of the 35 Carabao Cup first round games saw both teams score, and I am hoping for more carnage this Tuesday.
It’s still very early in the season, and it is always difficult to predict how many changes that the numerous managers will make for this round of fixtures, but I’ve identified five matches which have great BTTS possible.
I’m starting off with all the biggie: AFC Wimbledon v MK Dons.
Wally Downes has certainly made a name for himself Kingsmeadow, although it’s away from home in which he’s actually excelled — on home land, his Wimbledon unwanted are extremely vulnerable, as well as 65% of their Kingsmeadow experiences seeing both groups score last year, I am confident for a repeat on Tuesday.
Both of Wimbledon’s League One games this campaign have observed both teams score, while newly-promoted MK Dons (who needed a 70% BTTS-rate on the street last year ) will enhance their odds of finding the internet against the Wombles.
This will be a highly-charged setting, and targets should not be in short supply. ??
After playing a 2-2 draw as recently as Saturday, Mansfield and Morecambe meet once again at Field Mill.
Although Mansfield must be too powerful for Morecambe, the Stags have looked a shadow of their former selves defensively this season, conceding two in the first half in the opening two games.
It feels like fresh Stags boss John Dempster has not really got his feet under the table after David Flitcroft’s sacking at the end of last year, and I’m convinced the Shrimps will probably once again be able to harness this and find the net on Tuesday (while also conceding in all likelihood).
The four matches QPR and Bristol City have performed collectively this year have seen both teams rating, and I expect nothing different at Loftus Road.
I’ve been impressed by QPR this season, and they possess a few genuinely good young players who will cope with the Robins some damage — primary Eberechi Eze and Ilias Chair.
Bristol City are much better side than QPR on paper, and possess the quality to obtain the net on Tuesday; with four goals from their past two visits to Loftus Road, I am convinced they will.
Grimsby have impressed me so much this season; the League Two outfit have four points from their two games from Morecambe and Bradford, and I believe they will give League One Doncaster a really good game in Blundell Park.
Darren Moore’s Donny have attracted their opening two league matches 1-1, and I simply cannot watch them hitting the heights of last season, where they ended in the play-offs under Grant McCann.
This is supposed to be a hard-fought match; well over half Doncaster’s away games watched both teams score each season, and I believe this is well worth backing on Tuesday.
My last BTTS choice is Huddersfield v Lincoln, at a very solid cost.
The Terriers haven’t looked up to considerably defensively this year, and I can see them fighting against a Lincoln side who aren’t just mortal from set-pieces, but love a Cupset.
Both of Huddersfield’s matches this year have seen both teams rating, whereas the Imps have won their opening 2 2-0 — the most recent away at Rotherham at which –despite being pummelled for most of the game–they scored through two large balls into the box.
Lincoln’s physicality will cause Huddersfield issues at the John Smith’s, also evens is a fantastic price to back either side with joy before goal.
