Liverpool held off a magnificent fightback from Red Bull Salzburg to get up their Champions League defence and running in an game at Anfield with victory.
Before Mohamed Salah grabbed the winner midway through the second half, the people trailed but battled back to 3-3 .
Liverpool dropped their Group opener to Napoli month but got off to the perfect start in this match when Salzburg participant Sadio Mane struck sweeping home, inside 10 minutes at the near post.
Andrew Robertson turned into a crossover from Trent Alexander-Arnold until Salah poked a third.
It seemed like the game was over as a competition 10 minutes before half-time.
However, Salzburg have scored goals for fun this year – 40 in nine league matches – and started their fightback when Hwang Hee-chan got the greater of Virgil van Dijk before scoring with a strong strike.
The visitors reduced the deficit further when Takumi Minamino volleyed in along with the off fans erupted when an equaliser was exploited in by Erling Braut Haaland – his 18th goal of the season.
Salah got Liverpool on the lineup if he latched on to Roberto Firminos header and felt using a ferocious strike.
Liverpool have not dropped at Anfield in Europe because 2014, winning 16 and drawing seven of the games.
It looked like win number 17 was going to be a formality with the Reds at their clinical scoring from three of their four shots on goal, in a screen.
This match raised concerns, while scoring is undoubtedly the strength of Liverpool.
Theyve maintained just three clean sheets this year – against Burnley and Sheffield United in the Premier League and against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup – and also contrary to an assault they struggled to deal.
Van Dijk has ever been a rock for Liverpool but this match underlined Joel Matips value for their defence – the Cameroon international missed the game.
All speak pre-match about Red Bull Salzburg was concentrated on their own striker Haaland.
Son of ex-Leeds United midfield Alf Inge Haaland, Even the Leeds-born 19-year-old, had scored 17 goals in 11 games prior to the game, including a hat-trick in Salzburgs 6-2 defeat of Genk within their group opener.
Infection confined Haaland to some location however, they have plenty of goals in the remainder of the group while he is undoubtedly an integral player for the Austrian side.
The visitors had been the first to threaten in the opening minutes when Minamino flashed a shot just wide and there were also chances with Patson Daka hesitating when on goal, enabling Liverpool to recuperate.
They fell however, the away supporters were cheering and singing long after the final whistle. This performance against the Champions League holders may have felt as a success.
Liverpool return to Premier League action this weekend as they host in-form Leicester City on Saturday (15:00 BST).
