Bernd Leno says Arsenal have the quality against any competitor this year to score but considers building a good record is crucial for the Gunners.
Arsenal have taken seven points from their four Premier League matches but also have struggled with the same defensive frailties which have hampered the team in recent seasons.
Leno was guilty later parrying a shot from Erik Lamela of letting Christian Eriksen a very simple tap during Sunday’s north London derby.
Harry Kane added a second from the penalty spot but Arsenal fought to secure a 2-2 draw in the Emirates, as a result of goals.
“We all know about our personality but also concerning the quality,” said Leno. “The 3 players up top, using [Nicholas] Pepe there now, we’ve got quality.
“They could score the chances but also score from nothing so the other teams consistently know and need to take note that we have a lot of dangerous players and that gives us enormous confidence.
“You can observe the match against Liverpool, we had just one or two opportunities to score when it was 0-0 therefore we can score with our quality at the three.
“We can score against everyone but I feel the secret is always the balance together with the defence because ultimately that is the most essential thing.”
Leno believes he responded well to his mistake at the derby, which could have ended in victory for Arsenal had Sokratis Papastathopoulos’ late goal not been ruled out for offside
“I believe that the very first goal was a bit unfortunate,” he said.
“I couldn’t catch the ball completely and then I tried to get up but Eriksen scoredit had been unlucky but that is the lifetime of a goalkeeper.
“For me personally it was then like the team, I needed to stand up. It is not a huge problem simply because we surrendered a goal, I needed to remain positive and that I thought after I did an excellent job.”
Leno considers Sunday’s outcome proves Unai Emery’s side may find the best of their rivals this time around although tottenham have finished over Arsenal.
“Now we showed we are able to play much better than many others,” he said following the game.
“To be truthful from the first half you watched the caliber of Tottenham so again it’ll a very hard fight before the conclusion of the season and then we will see who will be better”
