A matchup between two of the top-10 light heavyweights in the world is rumored to occur at UFC 175. According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Daniel Cormier is Very Likely to face legend Dan Henderson in UFC 175 this July in Las Vegas. Formerly, Cormier was linked to a struggle against Rafael Feijao, but the UFC has reportedly thought twice about that matchup and will perform Cormier/Hendo instead. Although the report was stated to be untrue by UFC president Dana White through Twitter, we all understand that White enjoys to keep these kind of things in house till they are 100% official, and of course as the old expression goes,”Where there is smoke there’s fire.” I really do believe this matchup involving Cormier and Henderson occurs because it is the struggle that makes most sense from the 205lb branch right now. There are a good deal of people out there discussing how awful Henderson looked in the initial two rounds of his fight with Shogun Rua in UFC Fight Night 38 a few weeks past, and he absolutely did not look like the Hendo of older for the first ten minutes. But what people forget is that the fight was scheduled for 25 minutes, and Henderson got the work done in the 16th minute of the struggle. I feel like lovers and press have been way too critical of Henderson believing that, you know, he won the struggle with Shogun. So far as Cormier goes, he has been unbeaten in his mixed martial arts career and basically untested for the most part as he’s been pretty much flawless in all his struggles, including his three at the UFC against Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Pat Cummins. However, I genuinely believe Henderson is a much more dangerous fighter compared to all three of these men, and this fight between DC and Hendo isn’t a walk in the park for DC, regardless of what some people are saying. That said, obviously Henderson would enter the struggle Cormier has a big favorite, if it indeed goes down. My guess is that DC opens about -400 for the struggle, one that is likely to function as co-main event of UFC 175 if that event occurs. I think that is a neutral place for DC, but that I wouldn’t surprised at all if the betting public bets him up to some crazy number, possibly. Hopefully we get confirmation of the bout soon, since I think Hendo is the ideal test for DC and when Cormier can finish him in impressive fashion, he will have truly got his title shot against Jon Jones.
